Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, shared his unique perspective on the evolving landscape of Web3.

Drawing from his extensive experience in tech innovation and multicultural background, Siu emphasized the transformative potential of blockchain technology for content creators.

Blockchain and Intellectual Property

In a recent interview with BeInCrypto, Siu discussed how blockchain can empower content creators by enabling actual ownership of intellectual property.

He pointed out that the most successful musicians, like Michael Jackson, owned their intellectual properties, contributing significantly to their growing asset base.

'The most successful musicians like Michael Jackson had a growing asset base because they owned their intellectual properties,' he noted.

The Institutional Era of Crypto

Siu also highlighted the critical difference between projects with and without institutional support. He stated that projects with institutional backing tend to perform more stably. 'Starting with the Bitcoin ETFs, I think we're entering an institutional era of crypto,' Siu remarked.

He explained that the traditional stock market is majority institutional, whereas the token market is majority retail. Investors conduct diligent research to understand the project in an institutional market because they have significant purchasing power and long-term planning.

Eastern vs. Western Attitudes

Siu shared his observations on the stark contrast between Eastern and Western attitudes towards capitalism and crypto.

He noted that Asia is more pro-capitalist, even in countries like China, where the Communist Party is in power. This pro-capitalist mindset has contributed to the growth of DeFi and GameFi in Asia. In contrast, many young Americans and Europeans are skeptical of capitalism, which affects their attitudes toward crypto and gaming.

The Role of Hong Kong

Siu also discussed Hong Kong's strategic role in the global crypto landscape. He explained that while China supports blockchain technology, it does not allow Bitcoin trading.

However, Hong Kong is a financial clearinghouse for international capital entering and leaving mainland China. This makes Hong Kong a pro-Web3 and pro-Crypto hub.

Animoca's Mocaverse and Future Prospects

Siu expressed excitement about Animoca's projects, particularly TON and Mocaverse. He stated that the TON ecosystem is bringing many users into Web3, and their games, like Gamee, have amassed 90 million users.

The Mocaverse aims to solve digital identity issues, making it more distributed and accessible to individuals rather than bots.

In conclusion, Yat Siu's insights comprehensively overview Web3's current and future potential.

His emphasis on the importance of intellectual property ownership and the role of institutional support offers valuable guidance for aspiring artists and creators in the age of blockchain technology.
