TL;DR Former Goldman Sachs executive Raoul Pal provides an optimistic forecast for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency adoption, projecting a user base of over one billion by 2025 and four billion by 2030. This prediction is grounded in a comparative analysis of crypto adoption against the early years of internet growth, suggesting an unprecedented expansion rate for digital currencies.

In a significant development for the cryptocurrency sector, Raoul Pal, the CEO of Real Vision and a former Goldman Sachs executive, has shared a compelling forecast highlighting a potential exponential growth in global crypto users.

According to Pal, a chart that reliably tracked the sector's growth over the past five years indicates that we are on the cusp of a significant adoption curve, which could see Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies serve half the world's population by the end of this decade.

Pal's analysis draws an intriguing parallel between the adoption rates of the internet in its nascent stages and the trajectory of cryptocurrency user growth since 2016.

He notes, "The internet, the fastest adoption of technology the world had ever seen, grew by 76% per year and then slowed down after year eight to 43% a year. Crypto has been growing at 137% a year. It's now at 516 million users versus 187 million of the internet at the same stage."

This comparison highlights the rapid acceptance of cryptocurrencies and suggests a sustained, if not accelerated, growth path ahead.

According to Pal's model, if crypto adoption merely slows to mirror the growth rate of the internet, we could see more than one billion users by the end of 2025.

He states, "Then what we did is assume that crypto just slows down its growth to the same as the internet. I don't think that's going to happen. I think it will be faster, but by the end of 2025, we get to 1.1 billion users." This projection underscores the increasing mainstream acceptance and utility of cryptocurrencies globally.

"Crypto has been growing at 137% a year. It's now at 516 million users versus 187 million of the internet at the same stage."

Pal's analysis becomes even more striking moving forward. He extrapolates the data to predict that by 2030, the number of crypto users could reach four billion, representing half of the world's projected population.

This level of adoption would not only mark a significant milestone for the cryptocurrency industry but also signify a paradigm shift in how global populations interact with money and assets.

While Pal admits that his model may not be perfect, the consistency of the trend over the past five years lends credibility to his projections.

The implications of such growth are profound, suggesting an era where digital currencies play a central role in everyday transactions, investment strategies, and even socio-economic development on a global scale.

As the world digitalizes, Pal's forecast offers a glimpse into a future where crypto is not just an alternative but a predominant form of financial interaction.
