T-Mobile Deutsche Telekom MMS Teams Up with Subsquid
T-Mobile Deutsche Telekom MMS has partnered strategically with Subsquid, a decentralized data platform.
The collaboration will see the telecom giant running dedicated worker nodes as part of Subsquid's decentralized 'data lake.' This partnership aims to bolster the security and efficiency of blockchain data retrieval and delivery.
According to a press release shared with Cointelegraph, the worker nodes in the Subsquid network will handle data queries and retrieve the requested information from the data lake for data consumers.
This initiative is a significant step towards integrating Web3 technologies with traditional telecom infrastructures.
Strategic Vision and Security
Alexander Ebeling, co-founder of Web3 Unit Deutsche Telekom MMS, elaborated on the strategic importance of this partnership in a written Q&A with Cointelegraph.
He stated, "For Deutsche Telekom, this collaboration aligns with our strategic vision of embracing decentralization and supporting the development of new, decentralized business models." This move follows Deutsche Telekom's recent role as a validator for Ethereum's layer-2 scaling platform, Polygon.
Marcel Fohrmann, co-founder of Subsquid, emphasized the partnership's role in strengthening and securing permissionless data access across Web3.
The collaboration is designed to ensure that each piece of data is cryptographically validated, as explained by Dmitry Zhelezov, another co-founder of Subsquid.
"Once [data] has been added to the Subsquid Network, every piece of data is replicated across dozens of nodes across the network, so even if a node goes offline, all the data remains available for consumers," Zhelezov said.
Data Security Concerns
Ebeling also touched on the paramount importance of data security. "Security remains a paramount concern, as enterprise-scale systems are prime targets for cyber threats," he explained.
To address these concerns, Deutsche Telekom implements rigorous security audits aligned with high internal standards and maintains an on-call duty team available 24/7 to ensure the uptime of their blockchain infrastructure.
Zhelezov highlighted several challenges faced by Subsquid, including efficient data partitioning and implementing enterprise-grade security measures in a decentralized space. These challenges are pivotal for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the data lake.
Deutsche Telekom's Bitcoin Ventures
In related news, Dirk Röder, head of Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom, revealed at the BTC Prague event that the firm has been running a Bitcoin (BTC) node since 2023.
Röder hinted at plans, saying, "I'd like to let you in on a little secret: we will engage in digital monetary photosynthesis soon." He confirmed that the firm would be mining Bitcoin when pressed for details.
