International crime-fighting agencies came together to investigate the Akira ransomware group and found they are shysters
The Akira ransomware group has reportedly siphoned off $42 million from 250 firms worldwide since March 2023, according to a collaborative announcement by the FBI, Europol, CISA, EC3, and NCSC-NL. This malware encrypts victims' files, denying access to their devices and data.
